Kynsley's 2 Month Well Visit and Pictures from April

Pictures from April 2011.  I never posted during the month of April.  Shame on me!!!!

Kynsley weighed 10.14 pounds and was 24 inches long. She was in the 65th percentile on height and 20th percentile on weight. Dr. Prause wasn't too concerned with her weight as she has grown proportionally since her last appointment. He would be concerned however if she was in the 10th percentile. He was concerned about her development. He mentioned reevaluating her at 4 months to see if she has caught up developmentally.

If she hadn't he would refer us to ECI, early childhood intervention.

This one makes me giggle...because she still hasn't really decided whether or not she enjoys the bathtub. She does this most of the time while I'm bathing her!

Spring Break

Johnathan took the week off of work for Ashlyn's Spring Break. Mom came to get Ashlyn and Jadyn with the intent that Johnathan would be able to get some work done in the bonus room above the garage. He did a lot of preparation to get the AC work ready for install. He said he is going to have to finish it during the summer. Poor guy...it's going to be so hot up there!!!

On our way to pick up the girls from my Mom and Dad's we stopped and saw Great Grandma and Grandpa Heasty and MaMaw and PawPaw. The older two didn't get to see them, but it was nice that we got to introduce Kynsley to her Great Grandparent's without the other two fighting for their attention.

Here are a few pictures I took the night before we left for Kemah.

On our way to Kemah we stopped at Freebirds. The girls' were fascinated by a fearless bird. It entertained them until the restaurant opened.

Here are a few pictures I took at Kemah. Ashlyn was not interested in having her picture taken.

Needles and Scissors

Jadie made a 3am visit to me last night. She felt hot so I took her temperature. It was 102.1. So I gave her Motrin and sent her back to bed. In the morning she woke up at normal time and was fever free. The only thing she had now...was a nasty sounding cough. So I called the doctors office and got her an appointment. I don't think I would have taken her since she woke up feeling and acting fine...but with Kynsley not being immunized yet...I decided it's better to be safe. So we visited Dr. P's office. He could not find anything wrong with her, so he sent us to have a CBC done to check what was going on.  I took her to the lab and she willingly sat in my lap in the big chair. The technician put on some purple gloves and set out a purple tube. Jadie asked for pink...which the lady searched for and found. Jadie watched as the tech tied her big rubber band around jadies arm. Then the tech went to go stick her...and jadie of course freaked trying to bend her arm to pull it back. It disconnected the tube that the blood was shooting in. The tech got it back on before a mess was made. Jadie of course was screaming. Finally after she got the tube filled...the tech pulled out a pink band aid. Jadie put her own band aid on her "needle". I lifted up the arm rest and jadie jumped down and ran out to the lobby. I'm not exaggerating...she RAN out to the lobby...leaving me still in the chair! Fortunately, Courtni went with us and was sitting in the lobby so she caught her and tried to calm her down! Jadie says she doesn't ever want to be sick again and get "needles".

Jadie LOVES LOVES LOVES taking my phone and creating self portraits.  Here is one I found that made me laugh out loud!
Jadie found the SCISSORS!!!!!!  This is how much hair she cut off!  She actually did a good job...since I only noticed because she put the evidence into the "Hair Stuff" (a big clear tub that we keep all the hair supplies in...I found this section of hair!)

Bobble Head

Kynsley has really changed in the last few days. She loves her mobile. Kicking and cooing while it turns. She even will start fussing when it stops. She only kicks her right leg with the left leg occasionally chiming in. She even looks like she is trying to smile at it!
One of my favorite things she is doing right now is a little beebop move with her head when I have her cradled in my arms. Almost like a little bobblehead doll! It's like she's crooning to some music she is hearing inside her head!
She also makes the funniest faces! Most of the time her eyebrows are crinkled and she has a puzzled look on her face! Her eyes are BIG and blue! They look like they are getting lighter everyday! I still don't know if they will be green or stay blue. She has a red blotchy spot on her scalp that her doctor says is a birth mark. I think it's weird to call it that since she wasn't born with it. He says it should go away by 18 months.
Her hair is still dark. It's quite thick in the back, but has thinned considerably in the front. She is eating about every 2-4 hours. She is supplemented with formula twice at night. So far my milk supply has been sufficient!

Wear Your Safety Gear

Last Sunday the 6th, Johnathan took all three girls to a birthday party at the roller skating rink in Beaumont. I had a photo shoot that afternoon which overlapped the party, therefore I stayed home. It was so nice having the house to myself! I took an extra long shower and actually enjoyed some time to myself where I didn't feel rushed or overwhelmed! Talk about refreshing! About an hour before I have to leave the house to meet with my clients, Johnathan texts me...Ashlyn fell....I think she broke her wrist.I'm not there...so I have to try to help johnathan make the decision to take her, or not take her tp the ER. I texted the girls mom who was hosting the party...and asked her for a moms opinion. She said she thought it was sprained and that she had seen Ashlyn moving it. So...after much debate and deciding he was going to go and then not a couple of times...they decided to come home and we would just watch it for a few days. He stopped on the way he and bought her a wrist brace and gave her Motrin when she got home.I arrived home after dark and had her remove the brace. Her hand and arm were definitely swollen, she could move it but it definitely hurt her when she did.
The next day she had school so I had her wear her brace the whole day. She had soccer practice that night and did okay wearing her brace. The next day...she wore her brace the entire day at school but I had her take it off when she got home. Wednesday, she could wear her brace for PE and that was it. Thursday, we said no brace. That evening she had basketball practice. She cried the entire time...so johnathan took her to the minor care...and it was broken. They told us to call first thing the next morning to get it stabilized and in a cast. Meanwhile they put it in a splint. They said breaks over a week old can fuse together so it was critical to get her in asap. So first thing Friday morning...I called! The first available appointment was Monday morning...so we waited! This morning, johnathan took her in and she chose a lime green cast. It goes up past her elbow to prevent a twisting motion in her wrist. The actual bone she broke is the radius. I have to take her back in a week for another X-ray to make sure it is healing correctly. The doctor made it sound like she would only be in a cast for four weeks max!!!! I was expecting 6 so that's great news!!!
It will be a long time regardless and a major adjustment to Ash since it is her right hand and it is already itching her. The dr said not to put anything down there to try to scratch it...instead to give her benadryl. It's been just at twelve hours since she had it on and sheaves two doses of benadryl and a dose of Motrin!

Below is a picture of her having her cast taken off. When we went in a week after she got the blue one on, she asked for them to give her a new one, since a part by her thumb was giving her a blister. She chose Green for her second cast, which is pictured above.

Basketball and Now Soccer

Ashlyn played basketball and was a really quick study. Only problem was she didn't get to finish the season due to her breaking her arm. While Basketball season was still going on though, both her and Jadie Ann played soccer. Fortunately, only a few games overlapped, so for the most part, Johnathan and I both got to see the girl's games. (Not like in the fall where I only got to see 10 minutes of the beginning of Ashlyn's game and Johnathan was lucky to see the last 10 minutes of Jadie's games if any time at all.)
I truly got a dose of what a "soccer mom" feels like. (Running kids to this practice, this game, and trying to attend them all!)

Introduction of Formula

We have started supplementing Kynsley with formula at night. For the last week she has been eating every 2 hours. The formula sustains her for 3-4. I am needing all the extra sleep I can get! Fortunately, my supply is strong enough not to "have" to supplement her like I did with Ashlyn and Jadie. (so I'm actually able to create a reserve!)
