It's Official...No More Pull-Ups and No More Loose Laces

Jadie has been potty trained for sometime now! I've been keeping her in pullups at night just as a precaution. It's been months since she's needed them. We've also been having issues with her getting up in the middle of the night and trying to join us to "snuggle". We finally figured out that if we tell her that she has to stay in her bed all night long...and if she does...she can wear panties....that it works! That means John and I are getting better sleep and...we are saving a huge amount of money because those things are more expensive than diapers!!!!
Ashlyn has finally figured out how to tie her laces. I've shown her in the past one or two times and she insisted that she knew before I'd even finish showing her! So I quit. Today she started doing it and I showed her the last part...and she got it!!! Now let me say, her shoelaces come untied more now than ever because she hasn't mastered it...but I'm so proud of her for figuring it out!!!

I took this picture when I went to have lunch with her one day at school. She was sooooooooo excited!!!
I took this picture at Chick Fil A. One of her favorite places to go. She even calls her friends that she plays with there, her Chick Fil A friends. So she has Ashlyn's Friends, Her Chick Fil A Friends, and her School Friends. Too Cute!

One Month

Today we took Kynsley for her 1 month check up. Actually the doctor didn't require a visit until the second month but since I'm nursing...I'm still nervous about her weight. He said she weighed 8 pounds and 9 ounces...so she was gaining the right amount of weight! YEAH! I also asked about how much should be put in a bottle and he said between 2-4 ounces still. I've been feeding her 3.5-4 and she still acts as if she's hungry even after 4 sometimes. I told him she was spitting up quite a bit, even coming out her nose at times. He said to let him know if it continues!

Tears and More Tears

I write on this to keep everyone informed of what our family is doing, (since I am horrible at keeping in contact with everyone!). However, I also document things because I don't write in a journal. I love the idea of a blog because it dates your entries as well as you can put pictures to go with each entry! Today's entry isn't anything but documenting! So feel free to skip it!

Yesterday, I called my obstetrician and told them somethings not right with me! In speaking to the nurse she says I suffer from "baby blues" as well as a little bit of post partum depression. The things I'm experiencing I can't really put it into words...but no matter how much I try to control them....I can't! Here is a checklist of things I am feeling.

"baby blues"
-elation and joy followed by sadness
-crankiness
-crying spells
-mood swings

"postpartum depression"
-changes in sleeping pattern (exhausted but when I can sleep...I can't...or can't stay asleep)
-withdrawal (i haven't wanted to talk when people call, I don't want people coming over)
-avoiding baby (i go through phases where I want her and want to be the only one to take care of her...and then the next minute...I want johnathan to come get her.)

Since I have a few of the postpartum depression items the doctor has prescribed Cymbalta. I'm not one who likes to take medicine...especially since I am breastfeeding Kynsley. However, I am not an emotional person and I know I'm worrying John as well as my parents and friends. Also since I can rationalize everything...and yet still can't change the gloomy feeling...I'm going to take it. They are starting me on the lowest dose and we will reevaluate in 3 weeks. From what I understand postpartum depression lasts about 6months to 1 year. Thank goodness! I want to enjoy this time as Kynsley is my last baby!!! I don't want to be crying all the time anymore!!!

Looks Like an Outtie

Looks like Kynsley is going to have an outtie. I found the remnants of her umbilical cord last night in her onesie when I was changing her.

Mama Leaves

Today is the day I have dreaded! My Mom is heading home....leaving us on our own. She has been a huge blessing! I'm afraid of the chaos that will ensue. I'm ready for a routine...I'm thinking that will be the only thing that keeps us all sane! Hopefully we can establish one asap!!! Thank you mama! I hope when you go home you get to catch up on your rest!!!

Heal prick

Today Mom, Jadie, and I took Kynsley to her 2 week appointment. Doctor says she looks good. I asked if she is gonna have an outtie. He said it is too early to tell! Everyone says it looks like she will since it still sticks out. I also told him that when we give her a bottle, she spits up...but it comes out her nose as well. He didn't seem to concerned being that it was most likely a result of the bottle...and it being a different flow than what she is used to nursing.
She weighed in at 7 pounds and 7 ounces. So she is gaining the .5-1 ounce per day which tells him she is getting an adequate amount of food. That's a huge relief to know since I'm breastfeeding at this point. I never made enough supply with Ashlyn or Jadyn...so I'm super excited things are going well for Kynsley.
Dr. P. said she measured 22 inches! She is definitely stretching out!!!

This first picture just makes me giggle! I love all the crazy faces she makes!!!

4:30 am

It's 4:38 am. This seems to be the time when Kynsley decides it's time to eat! I'm laying in bed, sorta propped up waiting for her to completely fall back asleep!

The weather outside is turning nasty as we are expecting a large storm of "historical proportions" according to the news! Looks like we will be dealing with a severe freeze warning for the next 4-5 days! Ashlyn is so excited that the weatherman said a possibility of snow! She has been a lucky little gal since she's been born! I don't think I saw as much snow as she has in all my years before her arrival!!!
I need to sit down one day and update all the "new things" Ashlyn and Jadie are doing these days! So why not now!!!

Ashlyn tried out for basketball on Sunday and was drafted to a team! She seems excited as tonight is her first practice! I'm not excited that it starts at 7:30! That's what time the girls are getting in bed, as well as Ashlyn rarely makes it past 8 on a school night before she passes out! Johnathan went to her tryouts with her and said only a couple of girls were better than her! Looks like she might have a natural ability when it comes to this sport!!! I'm excited about watching her play!!!

Ashlyn is still the arts and crafts queen! She designs and makes oodles of things everyday! Each thing she creates, she has a special person in mind to give it to!!! She is so thoughtful!!! Each year her masterpieces get more and more elaborate!!! I can really see her developing in the creative side of things! I only wish they offered art classes for her at this age!!!

Jadie is still our little comedian! She keeps us giggling! She really wants to be a ballerina when she grows up! She is extremely flexible! (which drives Ashlyb crazy!) however, I can't get her in any dance or gym classes until she is 4 years old! I know that will completely sneak up on us though!!! Until then, we will encourage her to keep getting dressed up and dancing around the house.

Jadie is very much into the prince and princess thing. For example, I was flipping through the channels yesterday and mens individual figure skating was on. I pointed it out to her to watch the boys dancing on the ice. She looked puzzles at me and said "where is Prince Charming's princess???". One day I hope she finds her Pronce Charming and they live happily ever after!!!!
