"Brother" (the crab) Passed Away

Ashlyn's First Pet Death!

This sure has turned her world upside down.

Bless her heart she just doesn't understand. She has had a really rough day. She keeps asking why he had to die. I try to let her answer he own questions...so she has come up with a few answers.
"we didn't give him a bath" - did you know that you are supposed to bathe them at least once a week? (we did that though!)
"daddy gave him too much food" - she saw that there was still food in there this morning, we think he died sometime last night, and the crabs would usually eat at night.
"a snake got into his tank" - no clue where she came up with this one!
"he was just old" - she had a hard time with this one, because "brother" was smaller than "hope" (her other crab) so she thought "brother" was younger.
Ashlyn said she wanted to bury "brother". So we put him in a little box she had decorated at VBS (it is blue with a cross on it). We lined it with tissues, and put him inside. This afternoon we decorated a really big rock we got out of our flower bed. This evening, Grandpa and her walked around the property to find a nice resting place for "brother." Tomorrow the burial will be first thing in the morning! We will be singing "Jesus Loves Me" and saying her nighttime prayer "Now a Lay Me" at the service!

Pictures to come later.

Johnathan is Working Nights!

While Johnathan was working Nights, the girls and I headed out to my parent's house.
We went to visit our family friends, Rick and Marilyn. Marilyn takes care of her TWIN grandkids while Jennifer, her daughter, works. We got to see them. They are beautiful babies!

Ryley and Ashlyn played with the letters on Grandma's fridge, played outside in the sand box, and buried "Air-Corns" (acorns).

Good Morning

Ashlyn loves waking up her little sister with a
"GOOD MORNING JADYN"
Jadyn just smiles and hums.
It's adorable!!!

Visit to Grandma and Grandpa W.'s Plantation

Grandma and Grandpa bought a pine tree plantation. It is beautiful. We all went up to see the property a few weekends ago. Ashlyn had a great time, feeding the fish their food, fishing, riding "super fast" on the four wheeler, looking for deer on the golf cart, bringing Daddy something to drink, coloring, playing with her barbie dolls, and swinging with Aunt Jenn.

Visit to Grandma and Grandpa's Farm

Ryley and Ashlyn had a great time playing. Ashlyn stayed super busy. She even got to go swimming at Grandma G.'s swimming pool. She also got to play with her cousin's, Callie, Maisey, and Vyti. She was tuckered out each evening.

Our Girls After Church

Jadyn Can't Get Enough!

Jadyn started cereal.
Here is her first taste.

You can see the excitement in her face.

I was shocked to find that she loved it. (It doesn't have the best smell.) She couldn't get it in her mouth fast enough. She kept grabbing my hand and was trying to put it in her mouth. She even was licking the extra off the walker's toy.

Ashlyn Earns 20 Stickers!

Ashlyn can earn two stickers per day. One sticker for her jobs: (feed Sally, potty Sally, feed her hermit crabs, and stay in bed until 7am). One sticker for her behavior: (stay in bed at naptime, no time outs, no spankings, and no fits). After she has earned 20 stickers, she gets to choose a prize. (Toys R Us trip, Money, or a Slumber Party)

She of course always chooses a Slumber Party! She wanted to have Carey and Kendall spend the night. However, Kendall wasn't available, so we had a slumber party at Grandma and Grandpa K.s with Carey. The girls had a blast.

I'm sorry I haven't updated this in quite some time!!!

Jadyn's 4 month Appointment

I took Jadyn to the doctor this morning. She measured 26 inches and weighed 14 pounds and 10 ounces. That places her in the 75th percentile for weight and 100th percentile for height! WOW! Talk about a tall little girl!

Jadyn absolutely loves to jump in her jumperoo. She is also very ticklish and has the most adorable little giggle! (SO CUTE!) She is fascinated with her big sister. Her favorite toy is an orange giraffe. She can now roll over completely and is grabbing everything she can.

Jadyn got 4 big bad shots today and only whimpered on the last one! What a tough little girl!

Ashlyn visits Alligator Hatching

Every year a coworker of Johnathan's invites his friends out to help hatch baby alligators. It has become quite an event that the families look forward to each year! I wasn't able to go this time because Jadyn is too young for mosquito spray, so we stayed home. Johnathan however took Ashlyn and they had a good time. Ashlyn got to hold one all by herself! I'm excited about taking Jadyn too next year!

Pictures from Grandma and Grandpa K's Farm

Visit to Grandma and Grandpa K's Farm

I took the girl's to my parent's house for the week. It was our last free week before Ashlyn started Preschool. She had a wonderful time playing with her cousins, Ryley and Brenlee. Grandpa K even took the kids fishing at the pond.

The Woodland's Children's Museum with Carey and Richard Glyn

We met Richard Glyn and Carey at the Woodland's Mall. The kids had a great time playing! Ashlyn's Favorite part was Digging for Dinosaurs! It was alot less crowded than the Houston Museum. We would all love to go back!

Visit to Grandma and Grandpa W's House

We went to Grandma and Grandpa W.'s for the day. Ashlyn got to swim with her Daddy and had a great time!

Visit to Kendall and Kathryn

We went Saturday the 25th of August to visit our friends in Summerwood. They used to live across the street from us. We had a great visit. I even got to go out in the boat and watch the boys wake board! It was a nice visit and Ashlyn had an absolute blast!

Jadyn is Growing!!!

I haven't taken her back to have her measured or weighed. She isn't scheduled to go back until her 4th month. (Which is on September 1st).

But she has changed so much! She has figured out how to jump in her Jumperoo! She gets so tickled with herself. I think she might also be a little shy. She will get a big grin on her face when she catches your eye...and then quickly looks away like she is trying to hide her face.
She is still an easy baby. Actually fusses to be left alone! She can now roll from her stomach to her back and loves standing up in her walker.

She is a TV junkie! I have to watch myself and not leave her in front of the TV or she will just stare at it for hours! Before long she will be running circles around miss Ashlyn!!!

Great Grandpa K's Funeral

Jadyn and I arrived in Iowa shortly before 1am Saturday morning. Grandpa's funeral was at visitation was at 2:00 and they had a military service for him at 3:00. I am so thankful that I was able to go.

It was nice seeing my cousin's and aunts and uncles. (Aunt Faye and Jadyn pictured) I usually only see them at weddings, and unfortunately funerals.

Johnathan and Ashlyn stayed home. So it was nice that I got to show Jadyn off to all our relatives. Plus I was able to sleep in everyday! (Ashlyn is ready for the day at 6:30 sharp every morning, and Jadyn doesn't get going until 9ish.)
